The Field of Nuclear Medicine Technology

All of my life I have been interested in the functions of the human body. With this interest I always seem to gravitate to situations where I can learn more about it. I never realized this until after I received my bachelors’ degree from the University of Florida. Like most kids I never really could figure out what exited me, so I took business courses because they are so general  and I thought that maybe I could find something that interested me. When I finished college and started the job hunt I found a job in communications sales. I have been doing this successfully for the past three years. While doing this job I always felt like I needed to be doing something else that was a little more rewarding than just making money. I love dealing with people and trying to solve their problems but I hate being pushy. That is one side of the sales industry that I didn’t like you can help people but they never fully appreciate you like those who work in the medical industry. So while soul searching I realized that I have always wanted to work in the medical industry where I could actually help people. With this realization I began to research many different fields in the medical industry. I didn’t want to be a doctor but I still wanted to work with patients. While researching I came across the field of Nuclear Medicine and found it to be very interesting. This is a growing field that would be very personally satisfying in the fact that I could help people find out what is wrong with them before irreversible damage could be done. So, as I began to look more into this field I began to become more and more interested until finally I decided to go back to school. Nuclear Medicine is a field that is still in great demand and will continue to be for a while, the uses are evolving everyday and will continue to evolve into the future. Also, the salary for a Nuclear Medicine Technician isn’t that bad and that doesn’t hurt either. With my desire to learn more about the human body and my love for technology I feel that Nuclear Medicine will be the perfect career chose for me.
